Founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie with a commitment to donating one free product to a child in need for each sold product in the 'One to One' program, starting with shoes then eyewear and coffee. Bain Capital LLC acquired 50% of the company in a leveraged buy out in October 2014 with Blake Mycoskie retaining the other 50%. Then in Dec 2019 a group of creditors led by Jeffries Financial Group Inc, Nexus Capital Management LP and Brookfield Asset Management Inc, took over ownership. Their shoes are made in China, Ethiopia and Argentina.
