Fined $18m over product defects
In 2021 a US federal judge ordered Carrier subsidiary Walter Kidde to pay a US$12 million civil penalty in connection with allegations that the company failed to timely inform the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) about problems with fire extinguishers manufactured by the company. In 2022 Walter Kidde paid a further US$6 million in related charges.
