Criticism
Forced labour in China
The Chinese government has facilitated the mass transfer of Uyghur and other ethnic minority citizens from the far west region of Xinjiang to factories across the country. Under conditions that strongly suggest forced labour, Uyghurs are working in factories that are in the supply chains of international brands. In the 2023 'Over-Exposed' report, JA Solar was rated as ' very high risk' of exposure to forced Uyghur labour. The report confirms that their their supply chain includes facilities in the XUAR (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region). This refered to their China based operations as well as their South-East Asian/US based operations.
24.68% for supply chain practices in China
The Green Supply Chain Corporate Information Transparency Index (CITI) evaluates consumer-facing companies that have a sizeable supply chain in China. The evaluation uses government supervision data and public information to assess the environmental management of their supply chains in China. This company received a score of 24.68/100 (retrieved 9 March 2026).

Information
Forced labour in China
The Chinese government has facilitated the mass transfer of Uyghur and other ethnic minority citizens from the far west region of Xinjiang to factories across the country. Under conditions that strongly suggest forced labour, Uyghurs are working in factories that are in the supply chains of international brands. In the 2021 'In Broad Daylight' report, JA Solar was listed as having exposure to Ugyhur forced labour in their supply chain e.g. their polysilicon suppliers - Daqo New Energy Corp and TBEA/Xinte. They also have power generation plants supported by XPCC (a Chinese State-Owned Enterprise heavily involved in Uyghur detention, forced transfer and forced labour).
