Boycott call over anti-gay comments
Gay rights activists called for a boycott of Barilla pasta in Sept 2013 after CEO Guido Barilla sparked international outrage when he said he'd never feature a gay couple in ads for his firm's foodstuffs - adding that if homosexuals don't like it, they can buy another brand. After the boycott, Barilla Group started to advocate for LGBT rights, including health benefits for transgender workers and their families, contributing money to gay rights causes, and featuring a lesbian couple on a promotional website.
