Water pollution in Puerto Rico
In 2012 this company paid a US$550,000 fine and donated land worth $1 million to settle a case with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Bacardi violated the Clean Water Act their rum manufacturing facility in Catano, Puerto Rico, after failing to meet pollutant limits for cadmium, lead, copper, oil and grease, selenium, zinc and two types of organic compounds.
