Some of this company's products are certified organic by NASAA.
Green rating in Canned Tuna Guide
Third highest rating in Greenpeace's Canned Tuna Ranking. "Safcol came in at 3rd place. It is still one of the best widely-available tuna brands in Australia. Using mostly pole and line caught skipjack tuna, Safcol has maintained its commitments to sourcing only 100% 'pole and line' and FAD-free skipjack tuna. That means all Safcol tuna in supermarkets is fished using responsible methods. Safcol should improve its social responsibility policy and invest in measures to ensure better traceability." No tax paid in 2019-20
According to data released by the Australian Tax Office in Jan 2022, this company was one of many local and foreign-based companies that paid no tax in Australia in 2019-20. Please note however that companies pay income tax on profits, not revenue (total income). While some companies use tax havens and loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of tax in Australia, other companies that paid no tax have perfectly legitimate reasons.

Human Trafficking in Thailand's Fishing Industry
This 2013 report by the Environmental Justice Foundation, 'Sold to the Sea: Human Trafficking in Thailand's Fishing Industry' exposes severe human rights abuses associated with human trafficking in Thailand's fishing industry and documents the testimonies of Burmese workers, as young as 16, who were forced onto fishing vessels for many months and subjected to arduous, often violent, working conditions without pay. While the report doesn't mention this company, is seems likely human rights abuses are occurring in their supply chain.
